FAA Mandates 25-Hour CVRs driving demand for advanced flight data recorders

In December 2023, the FAA published 25-hour CVRs mandates for all newly manufactured aircrafts. Some experts advocate for even longer recordings to provide more data recording to identify incident causes and prevent future occurrences. Many airlines have already installed new recorders proactively.

With a focus on safety improvement, demand is growing for advanced flight data recorders to enhance monitoring and analysis in support of enhanced safety. There is an increasing preference for sustainable recorders. L3Harris offers a wide portfolio of CVRs meeting such new requirements and more.

When selecting CVRs, FDR, or combined units, airlines should consider both total ownership costs and solutions offering the longest voice and data durations to facilitate thorough analysis. Proactive compliance, adherence to evolving standards with sustainable design are also key factors to take into account.

Topcast is thrilled to announce a new partnership with L3Harris to distribute their groundbreaking SRVIVR25 line of cockpit voice recorders.

The groundbreaking SRVIVR25 line of cockpit voice recorders provides a low cost of ownership and the longest duration of voice and flight data ever available for analysis.

Offering a minimum of 25 hours of voice recording over four audio channels, as well as a minimum of 140 hours of flight data recording, this line of recorders meets the 2021 European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) mandate following the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) published safety standards to extend the voice recording duration, offering airlines more flexibility for both new and existing aircraft.
